What we're all about

Fun and Respect

Tod Street is Gawler's only tennis club that plays tennis 12 months of the year. Summer and winter we have
Hot Shots lessons plus teams in Hot Shots Match Play, junior competitions and Saturday afternoon open competition.

Hot Shots

Hot Shots

ANZ Tennis Hot Shots is a fun way for kids to learn how to play tennis. Children learn to play on the right size court using racquets that are perfect for small hands and balls that don’t bounce too high. Join 248,000 kids already playing!

When ready, children who aspire to compete progress from the Hot Shots program into competitive team tennis. Tod Street have teams in different grades to provide children the opportunity to play at a level that suits them. While it is competitive, fun is always the priority.

Tod Street have teams that compete Saturday afternoons for all ages in the Gawler and District Tennis Association. Tod Street was one of the foundation clubs of the Association in 1932 and have a long and proud history of success in this competition. During winter Tod Street have teams in Tennis SA's Winter Pennant competition.

Hot Shots - Developed For New Players

Tod Street's Hot Shots Program

With ANZ Tennis Hot Shots, the courts and equipment are smaller, and the balls don't bounce as high - perfect for new players. The smaller courts develop realistic footwork patterns. The modified balls bounce in the hitting zone relative to the height of the child. Racquets are sized to suit a childs height and stength.

Tod Street offers Hot Shots Coaching provided by Tennis Australia accredited coach Haydn Leo and his team from Your Advantage Tennis Academy. Tod Street also has Orange and Green Ball teams in the Gawler & District Tennis Association Hot Shots Match Play.

Juniors Program

The priority at Tod Street is to encourage kids to have fun. This does not mean we leave players to muck around how they please, but to structure a development program that maximises their ability to compete, while teaching them to respect the right of all individuals to also have fun. All coaching and training is done in a relaxed environment.

During summer, Tod Street enter junior teams in the Gawler and District Tennis Association competition with matches played Saturday from 8:30am or Friday from 7:00pm, depending on ability. Players are coached by a Tennis Australia accredited coach. Coaching is supplement by practise sessions designed to reinforce coaching goals.

Open Competition

Tod Street is the only club in Gawler that has teams playing competition tennis year round.

Tod Street has a long history of success in the Gawler and District Tennis Association. We currently have teams competiting in the combined Gawler/Barossa competition on Saturday afternoons during summer, and teams in Tennis SA's metropolitan Winter Pennant competition.
